  • Maven project usually consists of a configurable file called pom.xml. Which stands for the abbreviation Project Object Model(POM). It is an XML file
  • This pom.xml file always is located in the root directory of any maven project.
  • The pom.xml contains all the necessary information about the configuration details, dependencies included, plug-ins included in the project, and other configuration stuff.

Important configurations that can be handled in the pom.xml file:

  • Dependencies used in the projects (Jar files)
  • Plugins used (report plugin)
  • Project version
  • Mailing list
  • Reporting
  • Build profiles
